A few changes here at GridAKL: BizDojo Moves in

From February, BizDojo will be taking on a lease for the co-working space at the GridAKL Innovation Precinct  in the new Lysaght Building. This means a couple of things, the biggest being that the current GridAKL residents will turn into BizDojo residents, and later on be joined by the rest of the BizDojo Auckland crew.

Moving into a new building is largely about making it work for the people that inhabit it. You get the desks set up, the internet going and  the coffee machine churning and you start to feel a little smug. That is until you watch people make their way through the “wrong" door in the building, thus missing all your hilarious-pun-laden wayfinding before being spat out confused in the middle of the first floor workspace. Tim Kastelle is a heavy hitting innovation authority, advisor and advocate whose blog The Discipline of Innovation is devoured by more than 2500 people a day. He is the Associate Professor in Innovation Management at the University of Queensland, and the Managing Editor of the Journal Innovation: Management, Policy and Practice.  The man boasts a Twitter following of 12,000, has made the top ten of the Top 40 list of Innovation Bloggers on multiple occasions, is basically an innovator's Yoda AND he is headed our way!

Recently I celebrated a year of working here at  GridAKL. This year has seen plenty of pivots, including a pretty massive change in my thinking, passion and trajectory. I have learnt plenty in the last 12 months; I now know what SAAS is, am a bit obsessed with data visualisation and know that true innovation comes from the convergence of many different viewpoints. Not bad for an ex-fashion lander. 

Many of the things that excite me most are simple things that I have picked up from the startup ecosystem here in Auckland.

Here’s to Being a Part of Something Bigger.
