A sneak peek of our new home, the first floor workspace inside of The John Lysaght Building 

We have always crafted the GridAKL Hub with agility in mind, from the flexible rental agreements for our residents right down to the furniture on wheels that actively redefines how physical spaces are used. Now we are taking this agile and flexible nature to the next level, wheeling ourselves down the road to our new home in the Lysaght Building …

This will be our last week in our current home at 132 Halsey Street.

On Friday November 27th  we will be saying goodbye to over a year of amazing resident news, confetti cannons, great visitors, learning, acceleration, kitchen hang outs, legends, startup and lots of thinking. We turned a 1980s rabbit warren of a building into a fresh and functional space that is currently home to 16 resident businesses and over 70 humans who are crafting new ideas and businesses serving New Zealand and the world.

Our current home in Polperro has become the base for a range of rad events, meetups and neat people that stop by when they are in town. As a result, our community – which started humbly with a handful of resident businesses in true startup phase – has grown to encompass thousands of people from across the Auckland innovation and technology eco-system.

We are moving into a bigger, better, more rad space in the Lysaght Building, 101 Pakenham Street West  

Our new home will boast:
– Space for pre-startups, non-residents (public, entrepreneurs, students, and other members of the innovation community with an interest in tech, ICT, and digital media)  to take a meeting, grab a coffee and soak up the GridAKL atmosphere
– A purpose built event space to house loads of interesting innovation, technology and startup events
– Flexible work space giving our residents even more room to grow
– A program of events and activities that wraps around the physical space that serves our current GridAKL Hub community and beyond

The building will be complete by the end of December 2015

Which means our very understanding residents are moving into a building where the work spaces are finished, but there are still active construction zones as well. As a result, we are changing up how we wrangle visits, events and tours for the next wee while.

Whilst we are still in build phase we are changing up a few things …

Visitors and tours:
We are putting tours on hold for the time being so that our residents can settle into their new home, and our busy builders can concentrate on what they are doing. Have a meeting with the GridAKL team or a resident company? No worries! Just be sure to follow any instructions on the health and safety board, which will include an induction.

Events:
Our event calendar is going to really slow down for the next few months and we aren’t taking any event bookings until we are 100% sure that our event space is online. We can send you an email to let you know that we are up and running if you fill in this form here.
