Join Us for a Special Techweek Edition of GridAKL Bootstrappers’ Breakfast with Renata Wiles (Roam With Kids)

What’s Bootstrappers’ Breakfast?
Bootstrappers’ Breakfast is a relaxed, founder-focused morning series where entrepreneurs come together to share experiences, swap ideas, and learn from each other over good coffee and fresh croissants ??

Each session features a guest founder who sparks an honest, practical conversation, with insights you can apply straight away in your startup journey.

This Month’s Guest: Renata Wiles (Roam With Kids)
From personal challenge to product: building something real with limited resources

As part of Techweek 2026 and its theme “The Art of the Possible,” we’re delighted to host Renata, mum of two and founder of Roam With Kids, an app designed to make finding things to do with your kids easier.

Launched in mid-2024, Roam has already grown into a thriving community of 80,000+ Kiwi parents and caregivers, a testament to solving a real problem, simply and well.

In this candid and inspiring session, Renata will share how a personal challenge became the spark for her app, and how she transformed that idea into a real product with little to no funding.

From shaping an MVP to building a loyal community and navigating the uncertainty of early-stage startup life, she’ll offer an honest, behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to get something off the ground.

No gloss, no hype, just the real journey.

What You’ll Learn
This session is ideal for founders, builders, and curious minds who want to:

  • Understand how to turn a personal problem into a viable product
  • Learn practical ways to build and test an MVP with limited resources
  • Hear how to grow and engage a community from day one
  • Gain confidence navigating uncertainty in the early stages
  • Be reminded that you don’t need all the answers to get started

Why You Should Come
As part of Techweek’s celebration of innovation and possibility, this session is a reminder that great ideas often start small, scrappy, and deeply personal.

If you’re building something, thinking about it, or sitting in the “not quite ready” zone, this conversation will meet you there — and gently nudge you forward.
