In 2025, GridAKL marks its 10-year anniversary, celebrating a transformation that has reshaped Auckland’s innovation landscape.
What began as a bold vision has grown into a thriving ecosystem that embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Over the past decade, we’ve seen hundreds of startups develop from ambitious ideas into successful enterprises, strengthening our city’s economy and establishing Auckland as a key innovation hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
Auckland’s vibrant mix of creativity and business talent creates the perfect startup environment, with GridAKL at its heart. Our success stories span from tech firms to sustainability pioneers, proving Auckland’s strength as a key innovation destination.
To mark our 10-year milestone, we commissioned Beca to conduct a comprehensive impact study of GridAKL. The analysis revealed that GridAKL contributes $424 million annually to Auckland’s economy (based on 2024 figures).
