SUMMARY:Navigating NZ’s Tech Scene
DESCRIPTION:Our panellists have been hiring and recruiting technology professionals for a long time now and some of the best hires that they have ever worked with are originally from overseas. We often meet people coming into New Zealand with excellent technical skills but lack the ability to sell themselves in an interview. In fact\, many of them are great but they are not familiar with the art of interviewing (especially with English not being their first language). They also get told that they don’t have enough local experience’ which is a classic reply. What does local experience even mean? Does it mean ‘culture/team fit’ does it mean ‘ability to speak English properly’ ? \nJoin our panel discussion to explore strategies for fair and inclusive hiring practices.

In 2011\, after his first tech business failed\, he became obsessed with learning how to build scalable tech companies. This led him to study innovation\, technology and growth from the most successful technology companies and Accelerators such as Palantir\, Google\, Techstars Accelerators\, Citrix Accelerator and Plug’n’Play Innovation Centre. Since then\, Flavio has applied these learnings to advise teams across the globe to speed up product launches\, raise better capital and accelerate growth. \nAfter some networking\, we’ll use the lean coffee format to help share our current roadblocks and asks for help\, then collaboratively find ways forward to help one another. \nYou should leave the morning event caffeinated ready for your day ahead\, along with some new friends\, and good ideas moving forward through the current issues you’re facing bootstrapping your venture or idea. \nHope to see you there! \n  \n📍GridAKL / John Lysaght Building – 101 Pakenham Street West\, Wynyard Quarter\n📅 7:30am / Tues 26 March
