SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:Reading Group: A Survey of Context Engineering for Large Language Models \nJoin us at our next meetup to discuss the paper “A Survey of Context Engineering for Large Language Models.” This session will focus on understanding context engineering as a critical component in developing robust LLM applications. \nThe paper we will be discussing\n“A Survey of Context Engineering for Large Language Models” https://arxiv.org/abs/2507.13334 \nContext engineering is the process of precisely populating an LLM’s context window with relevant information for optimal performance. This involves integrating elements such as task descriptions\, few-shot examples\, retrieved data (RAG)\, multimodal inputs\, tool definitions\, and historical state. Effective context management is essential\, as insufficient or irrelevant information can degrade LLM performance\, while excessive context increases computational cost. This is a non-trivial aspect of LLM application development. \nContext engineering is a specific\, crucial part of a broader\, emerging software layer designed to coordinate individual LLM calls within complete LLM applications. This layer extends far beyond simple “wrappers\,” encompassing problem decomposition\, \ncontrol flow\, LLM dispatch\, generation-verification\, guardrails\, security\, and evaluation.\nPlease try to look at the paper before attending. This helps us have a more productive discussion as participants will have a shared foundational understanding. \nWho is this meeting for?\nThis meetup is for individuals interested in Data Science and Machine Learning\, particularly those involved in or curious about the architectural and engineering challenges of building LLM-powered applications. \nThe discussion will aim for an intermediate to advanced level. But we welcome attendees of all levels. \nDiscussion Format:\nWe will follow a reading group format\, providing an opportunity for attendees to share their insights and ask questions. Participants are welcome to pass if they prefer to listen. \nMeeting Schedule: \n\n6:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Arrive / Informal Networking\n6:30 PM – 6:35 PM: Introductions\n6:35 PM – 7:25 PM: Discussion\n\n7:25 PM – 7:30 PM: Nominate and vote for the next meeting’s topic\n7:30 PM: Meeting Concludes\n\nWe look forward to seeing you there.

SUMMARY:Meet Your Co-Founder
DESCRIPTION:One of the most common challenges founders face is finding the right co-founder. Where do you even start? Who should you talk to? And how do you move past surface-level conversations to uncover whether you share the same drive\, values\, and vision? \nWe’ve heard this need again and again in our community\, and we’re creating an event to tackle it head-on. Meet Your Co-Founder is designed to break down barriers and create intentional collisions between people who might not otherwise meet. \nInstead of traditional networking by discipline (tech\, marketing\, finance)\, we’ll flip the script. Participants will gather around problem-specific stations\, from financial literacy to health and fitness\, medtech\, engineering\, family and community\, and explore challenges they’re passionate about solving. This way\, you’ll connect with people who share your interests and drive\, not just your job title. \nThe evening will kick off with a discussion featuring two co-founder pairs (Dale Clareburt & Keren Phillips Co-Founders of Weirdly; and Jack Coleman & Henry Wallace\, Co-Founders of Double-Yolk) sharing their raw\, real\, and inspiring journeys: the highs\, the lows\, the fights\, the fails\, and the magic moments of finding someone to walk the startup road with. \nThen it’s over to you. Through structured conversations and prompts\, you’ll get the chance to meet potential co-founders in a dynamic\, low-pressure format. Think of it as Tinder for co-founders\, except instead of swiping\, you’re connecting through meaningful discussions about problems you care about solving. \nSo\, if you’re searching for your “wingman” (or wingwoman)\, come along\, bring an open mind\, and be ready for sparks to fly. Who knows\, you might just leave with your future co-founder.

SUMMARY:Ditch the Syndromes - International Women's Day Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Join Gender at Work & Powrsuit for an energising breakfast event in the lead up to International Women’s Day! \nDitch the Syndromes – You don’t need fixing. The workplace does. \nWe’re thrilled to host the brilliant duo Kristen Lunman and Natalie Ferguson\, founders of Powrsuit and Hatch\, for a sharp look at the most ridiculous “syndromes” invented to keep women in their place – from Bicycle Face in 1895 to Imposter Syndrome today. \nTogether\, we’ll explore: \n\nWhy new labels appear every time women make progress\nWhy closing the gender gap matters now\nWhat leaders and workplaces can do differently\n\nExpect real-world stories from Kristen and Nat and an open Q&A. \nThis conversation is for everyone\, including men\, so bring along some friends and colleagues. Gender inequality isn’t just a women’s issue. It affects everyone through shaping economic outcomes\, workplace cultures\, family wellbeing\, and the future of our tamariki and mokopuna. When systems work better for women\, they work better for all of us. \nEvent details: \n\nDate: Wednesday 25 February 8:00 am – 9:30 am\nLocation: GridAKL\, 101 Pakenham Street West\, Wynyard Quarter\, Auckland 1010\nTickets: $20 per person and FREE for Gender at Work and Powrsuit Members (RSVP required)\nRSVP by Friday 20 February\n\nCome curious. Drawing from firsthand experience scaling Canva from just 25 people to over 300\, and backing dozens of Kiwi founders through Phase One (where 85% have raised institutional capital)\, Mahesh shares what separates enduring startups from the rest. You’ll walk away with practical frameworks and hard-earned insights across: \n\nProduct: How to build something your customers truly love\nTeam: What makes a founding team click — and endure\nCapital: How to raise the right capital\, at the right time\, from the right investors\nGrowth: Why 5% week-on-week growth is the bar — and how to reach it\n\n  \nWe’ll also share lessons from some of the most exciting Kiwi startups including VXT\, Extraordinary\, NextWork and Ivo.ai — all on the journey to scale globally. \n  \n\n  \n  \nASW Connect – About the Series\nASW Connect is a lead-up event series designed to bring founders\, operators\, investors\, and ecosystem partners together ahead of Auckland Startup Week. \nAuckland Startup Week is Aotearoa’s flagship celebration of entrepreneurship\, showcasing the people and ideas shaping the future of innovation in New Zealand. ASW Connect helps set the tone for the main week by creating space for early connection\, practical conversations\, and shared learning in smaller\, more accessible settings. \nThese sessions are about building relationships\, surfacing real founder challenges\, and helping the community get the most out of Auckland Startup Week in October — whether you’re new to the ecosystem or deeply involved in it already.
