Great content marketing does not have a finish line, but taking the first step is still the most important part. The Content NZ training approach is all about continuous innovation – doing, learning and then doing more. Wherever you are, there’s something to learn.

This is the first of a series of workshops that together will form a complete picture of the six parts of a healthy content marketing programme.

First half: Inspiration with James Hurman

(30 mins + questions)

James Hurman is the founder of venture studio Previously Unavailable, and the CEO of Storytech, a brand-strategy-in-a-box digital product for start-ups and small businesses.

James is a New Zealander with a long history of helping brands, big and small, develop better stories and strategies.

The former head of strategic planning at globally top-ranked advertising agency Colenso BBDO, James has worked all over the world with blue-chip companies including Coca Cola, Unilever, Vodafone, Heineken, Fonterra, Levi’s, and Burger King.

More recently, James has led the brand thinking across successful start-ups including Stolen Rum, Simplicity Kiwisaver, Hawker & Roll and Toothcrush

His work has won more than 50 local and international marketing effectiveness awards, and he was named the world’s number 1 brand strategy planner in the 2013 Big Won Report (a global marketing industry publication).

Second half: Action with Kris Herbert

(30 mins + questions)

After James sets the stage for what’s possible, you’ll get your hands dirty as we walk you through the steps to make this learning real. You’ll learn methods for discovering your purpose and using that to craft a meaningful brand story. This is the crucial first step towards effective content marketing.

Kris Herbert is a former journalist with a passion for all things storytelling. She is the chair of Content NZ and the co-founder of Creative Agent and Co-Create content agencies.
