Congrats to Hi Tech Award 2017 winners – oDocs

A $50,000 eye-clinic can fit in the palm of your hand for a fraction of the price? It may sound far-fetched, but the team from oDocs have created a way to turn your cell-phone into a more affordable, and some might say more effective version of an ophthalmoscope.

Ability to shake-up the eyecare industry? Huge. But oDocs are more interested in using their tech to help those who have been unable to be helped. 7 million people go blind every year and 5 and a half million of those cases are preventable blindness. By making the diagnostic tools needed for testing eyes in third world countries, cheaper and easier to access the possibility of saving eye-sight is increased significantly.

It is no surprise that with this realisation that oDocs are a Social Enterprise with a mission to end preventable blindness by making eye care more accessible.

We were proud to be able to help highlight the great work oDocs has done, as part of our wider GridAKL community – with one of their team formally based out of BizDojo at GridAKL. And we are even happier to share the news that oDocs have taken out the Mobile Innovation award at the recent 2017 Hi Tech Awards.
